“…and it appears that you have not yet complied with your obligation…”

Based on that sentence, no, not real.

    What’s the senders address?
Also wondering about a “greetings” salutation.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    Agreed. It’s odd.

    Definitely fit for the bin.

If HMRC are serious about contacting you, you'll get a brown envelope through the door, and never email.

Assume it is spam / phishing in all cases. The safest and easiest way to deal with it.

Definite spam.  Any genuine email from a government agency would end in ".gov.uk", not ".com".  Added to which, HMRC will always contact you by good old-fashioned snail-mail for anything important.

    This ^^
If it doesn't come in a brown envelope FIRST, you can ignore emails from HMRC*.
They will only email you once you have established co.munication via post and that will be with a named person.

    * - you get email confirmation of filing tax returns etc, but it is a receipt and you don't need to respond to these.

May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.
