Platinum ring

I want a ring, similar to my platinum wedding ring but wider. Because I don't want it to look like another wedding ring, I think it needs to be wide and flat, rather than thin and rounded.
I have seen one I like in a high street jewellers. It's white gold but I don't understand how they grade them and what sort of price I should be looking at. I would be happy with a second hand one if I can find a nice one.
Any tips? I really don't know how to do it. I don't want to spend more than 150 or 200 pounds at the very most. But I'll be wearing it every day and intend to keep it for life, so it has to be durable.
Thanks

Hi- I'm sure that someone who knows will be along soon to give you some specific advice & suggestions.
Maybe for now use the internet to search out some info re types of gold & the grading they use. Also, if you visit jewellers' websites there's bound to be a load of information on there to get you started & thinking about price and what grade you are looking for. Hope that helps...0 -
My colleague had a platinum wedding ring custom made, which sounds similar to the one you have in mind.
He lost it (!) but fortunately it was insured.
When he got the money for it, he bought a gold one. Said the platinum was too heavy.
Sorry to be a killjoy, just thought I'd mention it!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I think platinum is a bit greyer and less shiny than white gold. White gold (18 carat) is nice (less white than silver) and is actually rhodium plated and is yellow gold mixed with an alloy (not sure what - rhodium?) I have a pink and white gold wedding ring, a white gold ring set with diamonds and a solitaire sapphire white gold ring. The wedding ring was made for me and has and 'oval' cross section - so sits quite high on my finger, the other two were bought as 18carat white gold rings with a 'd' cross section, so sit flatter on the finger, and had the stones set into them. I can't imagine your ring would need to be more than £200 although I am a bit out of date with prices.
Your ring you describe sounds as if it would have a rectangular cross section. Roughly measure in mm how wide you would like it to be and how high and you should be able to give a jeweller a good idea of what you want. They should then be able to tell you whether this is an off the peg ring or would have to be specially made. You don't say where you are in the UK, but if you are near London I know of a shop called Penelope Red that does such a ring so it may be worth looking them up.0 -
I've just had a quick look for you and found this website - may give you an idea!
