iPad saying "Password Incorrect Enter the password for the Exchange account "Exchange"

I have just returned from abroad and towards the end of the trip I had an issue with my ipad (its quite an old one but still worked fine) while I was away and started getting a pop up saying "Password Incorrect Enter the password for the Exchange account "Exchange" when I try to delete email messages. I have tried using my Outlook/Hotmail password but it says its incorrect.
I had no problems with my iPhone 11 and I can still access and delete emails on my desktop.
It's just annoying.
Any suggestions? I am an elderly woman but would appreciate any help.
