Foot Asylum - is this right?

Hi - i'm wonder if anyone could offer some advice and maybe where to go
I received a gift card for a Shopping Centre (Meadowhall Sheffield), where you could spend funds on the Meadowhall gift card in any of the stores in the Centre. I purchased a pair of trainers in the Meadowhall Foot asylum store.
A few weeks later the trainers become faulty due to the sole coming away from the shoe.
I returned these to the store where I was told that the item could only be refunded on one of the Footasylum gift cards, rather than the Meadowhall card in which I used for the original, which I was really disappointed with, as there was nothing I wanted.
The irony of this is that they always insist that any refund must be on the original method that was used, however when it came to them doing the same, they wouldn't practice what they preach.

I reluctantly made an online purchase of items, where part of that order then also became faulty (seam split in the joggers).
After literally weeks of trying to get a new gift card issued (never received) they finally issued a refund in points to my account.
I went online to spend those points, to find that they have expired after 90 days - so now lost those funds. As those points were given as a refund for a faulty item, has breached my consumer rights? When i got in touch with them they have brushed me off saying that the points have the same expiry date as the gift card - which is incorrect - points 90 days, gift card 12 months.
It wasn't a huge amount, but is now a matter of principle - as i don't feel this is right. Any help and guidance would be appreciated

I would think your sticking point is you accepted the points, its now only when you find they have expired that you say you aren't happy with it, it does sound like a bit of a mess but I don't think you have grounds for complaint."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "3

While they accept Meadowhall gift cards they probably do not sell them, so are unable to refund to one of them.
it is the same with Lovetoshop vouchers/gift cards. Shops that accept them don't sell them so issue their own ones for a refund.3 -
Thanks, Sammy - I didn't have a choice with the points, they added to my account - after they have said they issued the gift cards multiple times, but never appeared. Id have happily accepted a gift card. I'm just surprised they can replace faulty goods with points that run out after such a short time (90 days).
