  • Thank you so much for all of your advice and thoughts, and I'm pleased it's chimed with what I was thinking (i.e. because we know we will need this money in two years, it's most sensible to not take any risk with it). Even if the markets suddenly do really well over the next two years and we slightly kick ourselves, there's just no way of knowing - and the world does seem like it's a pretty volatile place right now, sadly.

    However what you see in the ( bad) news, does not always affect financial markets in the same/expected way.

    There could be case for you leaving a minor proportion of your money invested to hedge your bets
