Yup,an all-in-one eating iron, usually a wooden spoon with a length of paracord threaded thru a hole in the handle,so you can hang it around your neck, saves hunting thru your webbing, bergen ect for it.

I have been thinking of getting together an emergency kit and it seems several of us on here are on the same wavelength. I have cleared a bare brick cupboard off my office and am starting to assemble the necessities. Luckily as Dh is a fisherman and an ex camper we have a lot of whats on the list. I am reading up on preserving food and also buy an extra can or 2 every week. I bought a wind up radio and lamp some time ago and they are already in the box. I think we got off quite lightly here during the big freeze but it taught me a lesson as we were basically housebound as I could not push DH's wheelchair in the snow, so thats one of the main reasons for me being prepared.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

Living out in the sticks as a child, miles from food stores, we had power cuts every winter.
My mother always aimed to have 6 weeks supplies in the house, although the length of time was informed by her experience of the winter of 1947.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
