@NRA - it's good to hear that you're going home today. Happy recovery. No high winds but plenty of rain forecasted for today. I was planning to go to my pool session this morning but yesterday I got anxious about the continuing pain in the side of my chest so arranged a telephone consultation with one of the GPs. She's now given me a face-to-face appointment for this morning and probably a chest X-ray. I'm both cheesed off and relieved at the same time. The remote controls for the new Freesat boxes are annoying me, the buttons are so tiny I have to use my fingernails to press them. Ridiculous! After a wee internet search I found that ones I had for my old boxes work just as well so I've ordered one to 'test'. It can be returned if it turns out to be useless, I hope not.Right, off to wash my hair, I was waiting to do it at the pool, more plans dashed. 😀 I hope that all our poorlies and those struggling have a better day.Ive still got soup for lunch though it's more like a veggie stew, probably the kidney beans I added in before blending. Even though its Burn's night I won't be eating haggis. 🤮7

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's good you have finally got a doctor's appointment to get to the root of your problems. I hope all goes well. Similarly NRA, I hope you get discharged today and make a speedy recovery.
What!! No gale force wind blowing this morning! It finally subsided yesterday evening. Later than the weatherman had predicted and fingers are crossed there are no more named storms waiting in the wings. Just light rain forecast for today. It matters not as it's a stay home day with just some light cleaning to do.
DF and I finally got together at the 5th attempt yesterday for lunch and had a good old natter. I think it did her good to offload all her worries and woes re her DH with his increasing problems. He sounds very difficult to live with. After all the setbacks this time we are hoping we can get back to our weekly meet ups now. Just need the weather and viruses to co-operate! Then I had a guest for tea! Middle DGD was on the bus back up home and invited herself for tea. After younger DGD was here for tea on Monday she must have felt she was missing out! So a short notice tea to rustle up for her. Her second favourite - Pepperoni pizza. Good job I always have a good supply.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. January is finally nearing an end which gives a bit of hope that Spring is on its way. Take all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"7 -
Morning all.
It was such a lovely mild day here yesterday; couldn't believe it. We were busy at the Larder again but, unfortunately, I succumbed to the boxes of Thornton's chocolates that came in so we have the remainder of a box of 12 chocs sitting on the sideboard.
First load of washing done today and I need to pop out and collect a Library book. After that I'll make some broccoli and stilton soup but no more cake.
Hope everyone's recovering from their lurgies and you get to the root of your chest problem Gers.9 -
Hi everyone,
Sorry, been missing for a couple of days, but not because of the Covid. I tested negative on Tuesday and am feeling much better. Steve is now positive but not feeling too bad. Esben has had tonsillitis this week but is going back to nursery today much against his will, he keeps telling us he's still coughing and giving a convincing hack.
The men installing the solar panels have arrived so that will be happening today, I hope it's not too noisy.
I had coffee with my two friends from the kids baby days yesterday, we are aiming for a once a month meeting but so far we've only managed a bi-monthly meeting. It was nice to catch up although the husband of one of them is not doing well, he's very frail and he used to be very athletic. He's younger than Steve as well.
Gers, good luck at the Dr.
Hugs to the poorlies.
Have a good day.9 -
Morning everyone
The wind stopped last night and all is calm. It's forecast to rain today but seems ok just now. I had a very lazy day yesterday which hopefully will have done me some good. I did pop out for some shopping in the afternoon but I was only out for an hour.
I have work at lunchtime, then I'll pick little one up at 3pm as DD is working.
It will be interesting to hear her take on their Burns supper - they always have one at lunchtime with one of the teaching assistants playing her bagpipes.
Hope your appointment is ok Gers, you've maybes cracked ribs with coughing so much.
TA pleased to hear you got out for your lunch
Snoozer good news that you're feeling better. If Esben's nursery is like ours they'll all be coughing...it sounds like a doctors ' waiting room!
Newroadahead - fingers crossed yo get home
Wickedlady - Thorntons are my favourite chocolates - enjoy
I'd better get sorted. Hope everyone has a good day x10 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x Glad that the GP is able to see you and hopefully put your mind at rest. Annoying about the RC unit buttons, let's hope the new one is compatible.
Glad you're feeling better @snoozer but sorry to hear Steve and Esben are both poorly. I finally got rid of my sore throat on Tuesday after around 10 days of lozenge sucking.
Have been for a dental check up this morning - £84 which included a scale and polish. Was told off last time (July) for lack of flossing, so I've religiously done it every day (sometimes twice) ever since, so I was mighty fed up when she said I needed the treatment yet again. I guess I should feel blessed to actually have a dentist.
DD's graduation ceremony in Brighton later, so I'm just off out to get a card (lastminute.com) and will then get ready. She is having her hair done this morning. Keep getting texts from DS2 about what to wear as there will be official photos. No, a 'band t-shirt' is not acceptable.
Have a good day all and hugs to all those in need.

Morning all.. Reboiled the marmalade, of course, I burnt it...got distracted looking for chicken and mushroom pie recipes...I potted it up anyway, maybe it'll just be a little caramely [ fingers crossed!] Also, made a chicken and mushroom pie
so that's there for after. OH has gone to a funeral today, he was late up so had to jump out of bed and run and get dressed in ten minutes...His own fault, he went to bed at four and then expected to get up at half seven [he's in mid life crisis denial that his body will do what he tells it to] I didn't get up until about twenty minutes before him but I was feeling belligerent and it's not my job to police his sleep or waking up, he's old enough to do it himself. Ths may seem a bit nasty but recently he's been acting like I'm the unpaid housekeeper and I am peed off. I do everything as it is so clearing up after him is off the cards as well as being his butler.
Gers, hope it's something innocuous after your cold/flu/virus. NRA, glad the procedure went and fingers crossed for home soon. TA, a successful day then! snoozer, glad you're no longer positiveshame about Steve catching it though, but fingers crossed for future avoidance of lurgy! At least for a little bit! Coxy, have a lovely day, congrats to your daughter! Happy Burns Night to all Scottish contingents wherever you are, take care all, be safe etc...
P.S. It's Thursday today...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi8 -
Morning all
Late one for me as I was up again in the night, I felt very bad all,day again yesterday kind of sick and bloated with an upset tummy 🤢 I took Rob home and told his mum I would not be working today I was shivering with cold all day too, I did a covid test to make sure but it was negative so must just be a bug.
I spent ages looking for the daily this morning I know it’s Burns night but I could have sworn it was Thursday 😬
Im going to take it very easy today and see if I can get over what ever bug it is I have, will do a quick tidy and then rest.
Coxy congratulations to your dd, it’s a very emotional day watching them graduate - take tissues xxx
NRA hope you recover well, did I miss what procedure you were having ? I know the pain of having to lay on your back as after my mastectomy I had to lay on my back for weeks which is not my normal sleep position and I find it really uncomfortable, hope you feel better soon xx
Have good days all and take care xx5 -
Morning everyone Gers I hope you get sorted at the doctors it’s a shame you have had to miss your excercise class NRA I hope you get home it’s so much better sleeping in your own bed Taff I know how you feel my hubby would have me doing everything and he’s not happy when I take a stand but he’s an adult not a baby .
