Different registered owner for new insurance policy?

Is there a problem if a car is registered in my name and the insurance is in my wife's name for both of our use? I now have a second car in my name and not sure if I should transfer the registration to my wife?

When you take the policy out there will be questions and assumptions about who the owner is, who the registered keeper is and who the main driver is, and you/your wife will have to read those carefully and make sure they are correct. However the large majority of insurers won't have a problem with you insuring a car which is owned by a spouse. One owned by a more distant relative can be more complicated.
Note that there is no such thing as a "registered owner". The registered keeper is the person responsible for making sure that the car is taxed and the first point of contact for the authorities regarding traffic offences etc, but the owner can be someone different. Which is why the registration document says "this document is not proof of ownership" in large letters at the top.1
