Anyone help with why ML says you can claim “with or without children” but yet after applying, my sister (under state pension age) was told, as not in receipt of child benefit she did not meet the criteria. (Partner died Dec 2019)
Thanks

She wasn't married to her partner?

To claim Bereavement Payment you must claim within 21 months of the date of death.

To claim backdated payments you must have been  entitled to child benefit at the date of your partner's death or have been pregnant.
