UC Migration - Bank Statements

Hello,
We have had our migration letter and have to claim by the end of march.
We have savings over £16,000 and my queries around the protection were answered on previous threads - thank you.
I seems once we apply we will have to show 4 months of bank statements at an interview and the totals, which is fine but do I have leave copies of those statements with all our account details etc at the interview or do they just record the amounts? If so do they go through the statements and query what your money is spent on? I'm unsure whether to apply or not, I am not comfortable with some person in the jobcentre having those statements or UC going through my accounts.
We will only be eligible for the one year.

If you are asked to take copies of bank statements to confirm your savings, they will record the information from those statements at the appointment and will not take or retain copies. They need to see copies to verify the amount of declared capital, and to look for any obvious signs you have deliberately tried to withdraw/hide capital immediately prior to your UC application.

  • Many thanks for your reply, no problem with them recording the amounts and there will be no withdrawals from our savings prior to our application.
