travel insurance for trekking at altitude

Options
I am going to Peru in June. One of the days I trek and camp at 4215m but my current insurer only covers to 4000m.

Can I get insurance to cover the one day that I am above 4000m?

thanks

Have you contacted your insurer directly to explain the situation and ask if they will cover it?

Maybe Alpenverein will cover the trip instead?  Not sure if they do Peru or just Europe.

  • British mountaIneering BMC insurance will cover you. Be very careful taking cover for a holiday that has already started, it might be better to cover the whole trip starting in the U.K.
