Question about fund/ETF/IT short names

Probably a really stupid question, but here goes anyway.  A lot of posts have abbreviations for funds or ETFs or ITs, e.g VWRL for the Vanguard FTSE All Word UCITS USD ETF Dis.  For someone who isn't well versed in them, where do I find these abbreviations?  I've looked on HL, Morningstar, Fidelity, etc..  and sometimes they give the abbreviation very clearly but a lot of times they don't, well not to me anyway.  The abbreviation is it the fund code, so for example, Fidelity
Index UK P Acc is PIUKA?

Apologies for the basic question
Thanks

VWRL is the stock market ticker. Plug it into the LSE's website or Google it and you should find it e.g., the box at the top right hand of the LSE's webpages:

    https://www.londonstockexchange.com/stock/VWRL/vanguard/company-page

On Fidelty's website you'll see the ticker with the name e.g., "Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (VWRL)."

Thanks.  That doesn't help me, if I put in to the search box, Fidelity Index UK P Acc, it can't find that, maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Stock market tickers only apply to products that are traded on that market, such as ETFs, but that fund is an OEIC and therefore there isn't a stock market ticker.

So, in other posts, where someone is talking about an OEIC, there is no short code/abbreviation for it?

As you've found, there is a fund code that Fidelity use for the one you were looking at, but I don't believe it has the same significance, in terms of the uniqueness conferred by a standardised stock market range for exchange-traded entities.

There are ISINs and SEDOL codes uniquely identifying investments if that's of any use, although I'm not sure exactly what issue you're trying to address (if any!)?

Most securities have some sort of short name or identifier. Unfortunately a single security will usually have many
Common ones are ISIN, SEDOL (UK), CUSIP (USA), MexID and many many more
The ones you commonly see on this board, VWRL, CTY etc, are stock exchange ticker or EPIC codes as they are (sort of) memorable and easier to type
They only apply to securities traded on an exchange. OEICs like that Fidelity fund aren't traded on an exchange so you won't have any luck with it on the LSE
I'm not sure what PIUKA is. It's not an ISIN or SEDOL, my best guess is that it's a reference used by FidelityFundsnetwork
To make matters worse different platforms have their favourites. IWeb notoriously often quote the infrequently used MexID. ISIN is almost universal but not all platforms employ it in their search engine
Does this help you? Probably not. Google is probably your best bet

Mainly as a matter of understanding, as when I saw the short names, it was confusing, as not recognising them, it was hard to properly follow the post.   Secondly, but less importantly, I'm looking at where we, wife and me, are invested, and trying to improve my knowledge.  I'm looking at moving my Sipp from II, and looking for similar ETFs to where I am currently invested, as am looking to move to HL, mainly because of the cashback, but will only move if I can find ETFs that provide similar coverage.  Having the sort name/abbreviation was just a way to save me some time when looking on HL and as i started looking in more detail, it became clearer that I didn't really understand where to find the short names, to help me look at HL properly.  But the whole transfer of a Sipp from II to HL is a completely different thread, and I don't want to mix that up with this one, as this one is about improving my understanding and knowledge.

Thanks to all that have replied, its been useful.
