Smart Parking Fine Belfast Northern Ireland

I received a car parking fine for Cityside Retail parking for overstaying in November 2023. I ignored the fine letters from Smart Parking that came through in the post and have now received 2 letters from Debt Recover Plus, threatening legal action if I do not pay. Should these be taken serious or continue to ignore?

Debt recovery plus can't even take anyone to court in England they certainly can't in NI just ignore the idiots, they don't actually say they will take you to court do they?
I bet it says if you don't pay them they will recommend to their client that they take court action, which is a different thing altogether, they don't want that as they will have lost out on their collection fee, and their client won't try action in NI, especially if the driver's details aren't divulged.

Just ignore this in NI and certainly don't say who was driving.  Best to do nothing.

You could do either, but my choice would be to ignore it, keep your Consumer Council ammunition dry should the matter escalate - vanishingly unlikely in NI, and even more unlikely given that it's Smart Parking, who very, very rarely pursue charges beyond silly debt collector letters in England/Wales where the law gives them more capacity. You might get debt collector dross, but that is totally ignorable.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
