Question about Lloyds Credit card direct debit payment

I have a relatively new Lloyds credit card which is paid off in full each month by monthly direct debit.  Unusually this month as the balance was higher than I was comfortable with and the money was sat in our current account I made an additional manual payment after the statement was raised.

My question is will the direct debit be reduced by the manual payment or will they try to take the full balance at the statement date as usual?  I cannot see online what they do when the direct debit is set to pay off in full only when it is set to minimums.  Does anyone have a LLoyds credit card and know what they do in this scenario?

Well Halifax will take the DD as requested.

Personally I would ring them & ask, as timing of payment may make a difference.
Then you can decide to cancel DD this month, make a manual payment to clear & reset DD for next month.

" as the balance was higher than I was comfortable with and the money was sat in our current account"

You could have left some in a savings acc & moved back to current acc before DD was due.

Santander where we used to have a credit card before would just deduct the manual payment and take the full balance so I just assumed Lloyds would do the same but realised I haven't tried it before.  I am away without wifi at the beginning of Feb when the payment falls due so did not want to move it out. Our current account does pay interest though so I could have left it there.

According to this they will still take full DD - https://www.lloydsbank.com/credit-cards/ways-to-pay-your-credit-card/pay-by-direct-debit.html

Scroll down to "Keep in mind" - "If you have a Direct Debit set up any extra payments won’t usually reduce your Direct Debit amount"

I have a Lloyds CC. They take the full DD as detailed on the statement, they don't take into account any manual payment made (I'll qualify that with I've not made an extra manual payment for ages, but that's how it always used to work and as far as I know they haven't changed)

Thanks for that and yes that was how I read it too so I think I will need to cancel the direct debit.

I have a Lloyds cashback card, when I have done a balance transfer to it they reduce the DD to reflect the balance that is due - that is after the statement was generated - statement done on 19th December, paid a sum into it via BT on the 21st, the DD was taken as normal this month minus the payment (and the cashback credit fwiw)

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Thanks.  I did ring the helpline and they confirmed as you have that any manual transfers done during the month are taken off the direct debit amount.  So balance at statement date was £1800 and I paid a manual payment of £800 leaving a balance of  £1000.  The statement says the direct debit would be £1800 as it was raised before the manual payment but the helpline tells me that they will just take the outstanding balance of £1000 on the payment date.  The information online is a bit ambiguous.

They certainly used to take the DD in full regardless but the last couple of BT I have done on my Lloyds they have amended the DD to only take the remaining balance though that was with a lot of notice - i.e. BT 21st December, DD taken 15th January

Yes I am hoping they have enough notice.  Statement was issued on 14 January, manual payment made 17 January but Direct Debit not due until 8 February. I have left the DD in place so will see what happens.
