  • Forgotten where I’ve got to on here but I’m now at £232.01/350
I do have some money to take back off this as I’m having some refunded but will sort this when it’s done. Will need a couple of things for the shop other than that will use up what we have and try and get a big shop on Thursday but I’m severely lacking motivation with everything going on.

    Good afternoon All

How is everyone?  Hope it isn’t bitterly cold where you are.  (The wind here is strong and icy, cutting through clothing like it wasn’t there. On our afternoon walk today, I had to wear my heaviest coat.)

I have two shops to report, both in L!dl, both inspired by my desire, yesterday, to have a pie for dinner and DH’s desire to make it possible.  Yesterday, DH spent £5.65 on a quiche, YS dauphinoise potatoes and 1L of lactose-free milk.  (They didn’t have any pies.). This morning, after accompanying me to the hospital for blood tests, he went back to L!dl to collect his free L!dl-plus reward - a chocolate chip cookie - spotted that they now had pies and spent £5.85 on a Steak Pie, YS mashed potato and a packet of seeded wraps.  (The wraps were on the shopping list.)

Also to be deducted is the £4.20 change we received in £2 coins and 5p pieces, which have gone into their respective money boxes.

The above brings our total spend for February to £159.20/£165 leaving £5.80 for the rest of the month.

  • I went shopping today, I spent the rest of the balance on my totem (Pluxee) card bar a few pence. Today’s spend was £83.97.

In total I have spent £519.45/£500 so I’m over budget again but again, it’s still better than it was. I will keep trying to get it under £500 for the 5 of us.

We shouldn’t need anything else from the shops this week so this is my final update for February.

I hope everyone here is happy with how their month has gone. See you on the March thread.

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

  • February was not a good month! 🤦‍♀️ I've totally lost track and have bought things from the budget that should have been paid for from other pots but can't remember what or how much (anniversaries and birthdays plus some shopping for a relative to help them out). To simplify things I'm just declaring a £300 February and will keep a closer watch on March!! 😳😂

I’m declaring at £159.20/£165 leaving £5.80 to roll over to March.

We did go shopping today - well DH did - but I’ll declare that in March, since it was March money that was spent.
