Ofgem have a consultation running till Friday ONLY
We, a majority of people think it's ludicrous what some suppliers are charging.
Now is your chance to say your peace - I would add their email but because it's against Forum policy for me to do so.  Your can search for a link to join the debate at the BBC or it may be on Money Saving Expert website.

And to be clear it's not the suppliers that set the standing charge so your very statement

We, a majority of people think it's ludicrous what some suppliers are charging.

So the majority are wrong in the very basis of their thinking, that probably the most ludicrous part.

To be clear all supplier have to pay those standing charges set by Ofgem, how they pass that on (standing charge or unit rate is the only control they have but it all has to be paid) the suppliers do not keep the standing charge.

Lastly you are too late.
