Power went off at 9.30pm last night and not back on yet. Engineers not allowed out as it’s too dangerous.
Am on my phone. Woodburner on to boil water and cook. Luckily it’s fairly mild.
I hope that others are OK.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope it's not long before your power is back on. You are one of many thousands without power according to the news and to add to their misery some are also flooded. This storm has affected most of the UK in one way or another.
As far as I know we have escaped relatively unscathed up here though I'm sure I will soon hear different as the day goes on. DS's DP and her DD & DF are stranded in Dublin where they have been for the w/e. They should have flown back last night but obviously that was cancelled. As of last night they were told it could be Tuesday before they get another flight. They may know more today. As DS is picking them up whenever they do get back he's hoping it's not at a ridiculous hour!
It's still wet and very blustery here so I am staying put. I have stripped the bed and the bedding is now in the wm. No chance of it getting hung outside so once again it will be festooning the upstairs.
Have as decent a day as you can folks and I hope no-one has suffered any damage. ((HUGS)) for all in need. Keep safe and dry and take care xx

Morning all, sorry you've lost power Gers. Looking at the lack of posts I'm guessing lots more are affected too. Although it was a wild noisy night, things seem to be ok here so far. All the snow and ice has finally gone, thank goodness. I hope you are all safe.We didn't go out yesterday, mainly reading our books and watching tv. I made pork tenderloin in mushroom sauce for our tea. DS1 was eating out so I saved the chicken to cook today, we had our day brightened by a visit from DS2 and DGS later in the afternoon when he was being taken back to his DMsNo real plans today apart from a tidy in the hopes that my cousins can make it tomorrow, last weeks coffee and cake being cancelled due to the snow. I'll out pooch's bedding on to wash too.Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10

Morning all.
So sorry to hear about your lack of power Gers but hope you're near the front of the queue to get electricity back. Apart from a small tree down at the side of a road we seem to have escaped here in MK.
Yesterday's Shepherd's pie made more than I thought so the remainder has been kept for dinner tomorrow, as we'd already started defrosting some chicken thighs for tonight.
One load of washing on the go and I'll strip the bed later. I want to make some flapjacks this morning and add in some of the Christmas mincemeat that's hanging around in the fridge.
I currently have a pair of sandals on hold in the Hotter sale but I need to check what sort of fitting I am before I finally order them. I already have them in a different colour so hopefully it will say on the box.
Hope most people have survived the storm relatively unscathed.11 -
Morning All
Gers hope you get power back soon, stay warm with the fire x
TA hope DD gets home soon, saw a plane on the news last night at Heathrow trying to land looked very wobbly.
Waiting for a couple of deliveries including indoor set for the "sun room". Chairs will hopefully be comfortable after my procedure on Wednesday as slightly higher than our sofa.
Went to put the bin out this morning and the brown bin had fallen over onto the driveway but we got off lightly when I look at the news and see the damage elsewhere.
Sending hugs to all who want them, stay safe and warm. Thinking of anyone affected by the storms

Morning everyone
I'm late up this morning as it took me ages to get to sleep last night because of the wind and then I woke a couple of times during the night. There doesn't seem to be any damage here which I'm very surprised about.
Gers I hope you don't have too long a wait for your power to get back on.
No doubt there will be others on here who have no power either.
Little one stayed Saturday night...we went down to my mam and dads yesterday morning and then had a lovely afternoon reading stories and playing games till DD picked her up about 3pm. I then had a good chat with eldest DD in Germany and spent the rest of the afternoon reading.
I'm at work at lunchtime, I was planning on getting the bus down but the wind seems to have dropped a bit so I'll see nearer the time. Hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all, it was a very wild night here but I think we have escaped any damage although the side fence hasn't been checked yet. It's still windy but the sun is out now. I cleaned the dw filter and bleached the sinks yesterday and today I should be giving the cooker some attention, I'll see if I can muster up some energy later. The bins need to go out today so I expect some of the recycling boxes will shower the road with debris before they're emptied tomorrow, I've got a net for mine, free from the council. Tea tonight will be a hm chicken chow mein.
Gers hope your power returns quickly.
Hope everyone is safe and damage free.
Take care all

Morning all
We seemed to get away unscathed here too which is good, Gers I hope your power gets turned on soon xx
I have cancelled my clients today as I just could not sleep last night I tossed and turned all night till about 7 this morning when I found myself falling asleep, I roused myself to make the phone calls and then went out like a light I have just woken so had about three hours I may need a nana nap later.
Dinner today is the rest of the roast beef from yesterday so luckily no effort needed there, I’m going to have a quick tidy through and then rest.
Hope everyone was ok during the storm xx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Good morning everyone. I hope your power is soon restored Gers there are quite large areas still without electricity I believe.
I get so worried with high winds, last night I heard a crash whilst I was in the kitchen and when I looked out my large garden cloche was in 3 parts on top of my cold frame despite the fact that it had been well anchored (obviously not well enough) into the veg patch soil. So I have just been wrestling with it to get it back together and hopefully it's now sheltered from the wind. I think a cuppa is called for.
Best wishes to the poorlies, the sad and the worried.
Take care xx

Hi everyone,
Feeling a bit better today, although I had a rubbish night as well. Mine was because I had a four year old with a sky high temperature in with me and he didn't go to sleep till 2.30. Laura managed a Dr visit at 8.30 with him and he has tonsillitis after his bout of covid last week. He's happy not to be going to nursery. We found a huge box of lego in the loft which he's happy about, it will all need washing before it's used though, it's filthy it must have been up there about twenty years.
Esther has gone to nursery, apparently she cried as usual but was also waving bye bye to daddy as he left so hopefully she will stop crying on drop-off soon. She also cries as soon as she sees whoever is picking her up but apparently is mainly happy otherwise.
We lost a couple of fence panels last night but otherwise aren't too badly off. Steve has ordered a couple of new ones and they will just slot into the concrete posts.
I hope you get your power back soon Gers.
Have a good day.
