No visible drain pipe/drain on outside wall of kitchen sink

Hi

ive recently moved and have no drain pipe or drain on the outside of my kitchen sink. There is not anything in the garden either. Is this normal ? I’ve always used the drain in the garden for things like mop bucket water etc. it’s baffling me lol. Any advise appreciated

Yes it’s normal. You can have a waste pipe under the floor heading somewhere else other than directly outside the kitchen.

Older properties had gulleys for kitchen drains. Modern houses use the single stack system where all the drains apart from the rainwater are taken into a single stack pipe that goes directly underground.
Disadvantage of a gully is that they need a trap which can get blocked. Over the years people often cracked them trying to clear them causing them to leak which damaged the foundations.

In my kitchen the sink is located on the back wall. The drain runs under the floor to the main sewer located at the front. Got a rodding eye that could be used to clear any blockage, but being located under a base unit, access is a tad tricky.

Where does the waste pipe under the sink head to? Out t'back, to the side, through the floor?
