Hi we’ve booked to go to Phuket end of May for our silver wedding. Can anybody tell me what’s a good rate for Baht? Is it better to take a pew payed card?
also any recommendations of days out and things we should be aware of please.

In terms of a good rate as close as you can get to the official exchange rate is a good target. Currently the exchange rate is 45.10 Baht to the pound, this changes constantly though of course. I wouldn't take a pre-paid card, if possible I would use a credit card or debit card (or both) which doesn't charge an exchange rate fee. There are various current accounts which fit this criteria.
It's been a long time since I was in Phuket but my most vivid memories are of visiting the other islands nearby. Some great scenery, snorkeling, etc...1 -
You need a mix of both cash and card

The best way to get Thai cash is to exchange cash at a good exchange place. There are plenty in Bangkok but I don't know about Phukhet.
ATMs charge rather high fees.2 -
I would just take Sterling notes and change them as needed as there are money exchange booths everywhere but they have to be in immaculate condition. Any tears, folds or marks and they will often be rejected.
ATMs are expensive (about £6 fee) so avoid unless an emergency.
Higher end bars and restaurants will take cards but cheaper places and markets are usually cash only.
Local taxis can be expensive but better deals can be had through the Grab and Bolt apps (equivalent to Uber). Bolt is often cheaper but Grab has more riders so check both.
Loads of day trips to the nearby islands (Phi-Phi, James Bond etc) but they are best booked once you are there rather than online in advance as you will get better deals from the local agents. If your schedule allows then I'd recommend doing a night on Phi-Phi - it's packed with day trippers during the day but it much more relaxed at night. Personally, I'm not too keen on Phuket Town but it's OK for a few hours.
