if every driver who had a bump got sacked there would be many more unemployed out there, however....

my mate sat in his 7.5tonner at a M1 exit island behind a car, the next thing its 3 days later, hes in hospital, an articulated 40tonner had ran into him from behind at full pelt pushing him into the car in front which shot forward ont the island causing chaos, my mate was off work 6 months and settled for £30,000 compo, the errant trucker was sacked and prosecuted, lost his licence...

it only takes a minute babe, to quote the song

it rather depends on your husbands boss and thier relationship at work
Relationship is perfect, always hits target, always adaptable etc…he just had investigation + his performance meeting. His performance is excellent. He always gets the best pay review from their team. But we are still awaiting results from his investigation.

Accidents happen and realistic employers recognise that fact. If your husband is a good and diligent worker with no history of being a negligent driver, and nobody was hurt in the accident, he might get a warning (not least because the employer's insurance might require them to do that), but hopefully nothing worse - but the only way to know is for him to talk to his employer. Speculation here isn't knowledge!

He has very good relatiobship at work. He never been involved in anything, never had even a single accident ( driving licence for 21 year), second lorry wasn’t even damaged, but his lorry is.
He has been already at investigation hearing….also he is on sick now, as he has some injuries. He has a sick note for a month and his boss said to extend if needed. Worried a lot, as we are also buying a new house right now, so warning would be a good outcome in this case.

Factually he wasn’t driving at a safe enough distance from the vehicle In front so could arguably be accused of negligence.

Be grateful it was a lorry in front and not a car

Did the police attend and what have they said ?
Yes, police attended. His distance can be can be taken from tacho. If front lorry was behind the bend and suddenly stopped, clearly distance won’t help on a slippery road, hill and sunny conditions where you can hardly see anything.
a tachograph  does NOT record the following distance  from the vehicle he hit, if  the  employer has a full telematics suite with CCTV on his vehicle this  may  either save him or  condemn him

there isn't CCTV on his vehicle. They only wanted a record from his tachocard. But distance was big enough as he didn't even see the lorry behind the turn.

What kind of action?  No, of course not, police was at the scene there, they did an alcohol test ( both 0) and checked tacho. No action.

He was at fault leaving insufficient distance between his vehicle and the vehicle in front to enable him to stop in time. But it seems unless there was personal injury to a third party or excessive speed was involved, there is usually no further action.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Second lorry not even a single scratch & of course no injuries, only my husband is injured and his lorry damaged. Speed all right, police checked tacho, not over a limit indeed. The was a hill before that and his lorry is heavy.
Distance was long enough not to even see the front lorry in front of him behind the turn. Also the fact that first lorry was rushing and overtook him on a village road and then when road traffic controller suddenly came out, she slammed her breaks to cause a smoke off her wheels. Even she admires , she had a small distance between that guy and her lorry, so she had to suddenly stop. Also it was extremely sunny ( when you can barely see ) + veeery slippery road down the hill. I know he still at fault, just hope his employer understands all these circumstances.
