This may be about the other drivers uninsured losses such as excess and other potential costs incurred but not covered by insurance.
I had an accident a few years ago which was not my fault in any way. I had a Protection policy and after the claim was settled they set about getting my excess back but the other party, it was a company and a company car, were not playing and didn't respond to communication so after about 18 months my solicitor sent the bill direct to the driver of the car because ultimately it was him who was responsible, the bill was around ยฃ3k if I recall.
That certainly got the drivers attention, and of course that of his employer and their insurer, and they almost immediately offered a 60% settlement which we outright refused after which they coughed up the lot.0
