Hi,
If I had a chase account and used the debit card to pay my HMRC bill, will I be able to get 1% cashback?

No - tax payments (and government services in general) are excluded
  • But remember that the cashback you get for everything else needs to be declared on your tax return...

Hmrc advise that it is not taxable as it is viewed as a discount on the price you are paying not as earnings so there is no need to declare it.
