Non UK resident selling shares held in UK

I am a British citizen not resident in UK. I have shares held by COMPUTERSHARE. They tell me I can NOT sell my shares as I am not resident? Seems crazy, as I have sold shares held by EQUINITY and LINK GROUP, in the past. Any help would be welcomed.

Perhaps a policy of computershare themselves - can’t you change the address they have on file for you to a UK address (assuming that is how they know you are non-resident).?

Do you have any stockbroker accounts in the UK or an account with a UK bank that offers stockbroking? You'll have a hard time opening one if you don't have one already but that would be easiest. Otherwise look for brokers in the country you live. Interactive Brokers might be one to look at.
