It almost always begings with smtp.....so for example smtp.blueyonder.co.ukYou'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Email accounts do not relate to one PC. In fact any PC in the world (that has access to the internet) can be set-up to access any email account, assuming that the user knows the account name and password. Outgoing messages usually use an SMTP server. If you can access your email from your desktop pc look at the account settings on the desktop email and then copy them to the laptop. Dependant upon the type of email client you use you may need to consider the fact that messages might get downloaded onto one of the PCs and not therefore available on the other.0

so this means that i just have to use the same email account as on my desktop ?
is it not possible to start a separate one which still uses windows mail ?0 -

If you want to send/receive e-mails to/from that account on your new PC.

Yes if you want a new e-mail account, the choice is yours. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
so if i wanted another orange/wanadoo email account i need to phone/email them and ask for another email address?
i know i can get a google mail account etc, i just thought it made more sense to have another isp one .0 -

Actually it makes much more sense to use ISP independent e-mail accounts! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Yes it does, I have dozens of different email addresses with the likes of Tiscali, Webtribe, Bluebottle and Budweiser......I access them all via MailWasher so it's a one-click operation to check all the accounts.
Definitely useful if you're into sending for freebies, you can track which merchants are harvesting email addresses and which ones are genuineYou'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
