laptop options

my bro is looking into picking up a laptop in the sales. can anyone suggest which might be better out of these options:
HP G7015EA` from Comet, £399
Toshiba Equisum A200-1VO from Currys/Dixons/PC World, £399, with the possibility of claiming a free second battery direct from Toshiba.
both have essentially similar spec, so any suggestions regarding the merits of the manufacturers/retailers etc? the HP has a bigger hard disk, and the toshiba has the free battery deal. he's aware of the dell deals such as those posted on hukd, but i think he wants to be able to pick up from store quickly rather than wait around for delivery. your thoughts are welcome...
