White glove delivery for large furniture?

Options
I need bedroom furniture but most retailers seem to only offer doorstep delivery. I would never be able to move a heavy wardrobe or drawers up the stairs myself and I don’t want to have to deal with all the packaging. Does anyone know of any retailers who offer this service?

Oak Furnitureland do various levels of delivery including delivering to the room.  Their premium level delivery does all assembly and takes away all packaging but is expensive (£99.99)

Edited to add: we bought a bed from a local bedroom shop that was assembled in situ and delivery was within a couple of days, so maybe one of those places in the local high street that sell solid wooden furniture and aren't part of a chain, if you still have one.  Or at a complete tangent (but moneysaving), charity shops often get solid wood bedroom sets and may deliver for a very reasonable charge.

Dreams deliver to your room of choice for £49.

M&S do as well - can't remember the cost but it was reasonable.

Our local furniture shops deliver. Some even take the old stuff away.
Our local charity furniture shop say ground floor only now.
Or you may be able to hire a smaller local removals company to do the job.

It does make you wonder if the chain brands refuse to deliver to the bedroom if this will cause a fall in sales. Severely limits who can purchase

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It might save them money when one of their staff falls down the stairs with a wardrobe on top of them followed by a claim from a no win no fee solicitor  :):)

Had a kerbside delivery of a very heavy item and spoke to a large removal company that I've used several times in the past for moves and they agreed to send a team round for a reasonable price only thing was it was to be when they'd finished the job in the area but thankfully they were only about 90 minutes after the firm delivered it. We do live in central London so any big removal company will have vans in the area most days realistically; in the sticks a local firm may be your only option.

I wonder how many pay attention to hear its doorstep only or think they can give the guys £20 and they'll bring it in.

We've an upside down home so the kitchen, lounge etc is on the 1st floor which causes headaches as sites make wrong assumptions etc.

Ikea delivery includes placing the items in the room(s) of your choice.

My local independent furniture store deliver, build, place and remove all packaging, most recently a king sized ottoman bed and mattress.

M&S did the same with a cabin bed many years ago.

We had a load of b&q bedroom furniture delivered last year and they took it upstairs for us. I don't remember it being something we specially had to ask or pay extra for. On the day, the delivery guys just asked us what room they should put it in.

Can anyone explain the origin of "white glove delivery" please?!

I've purchased from here - they deliver to any room for free and you can pay a small amount extra for assembly and disposal of packaging. Always been happy with the furniture and the service.
