Late write off advanced learner loan

Options
I have just received an email stating that my advanced learner loan has been delayed in being written off...

"We’re sorry that it’s taken us so long to write off your Advanced Learner Loan balance. We should’ve done this when you finished your higher education course.

What we’ve done

We wrote off your Advanced Learner Loan balance on 20/12/2023. You don’t need to do anything. You can check your up-to-date balance in your online account."

It should have been written off when I graduated in summer 2020!!!!!!

My question is, how would this have affected the amount of interest I have accrued the last 41 months?

Should I be looking into this? This can not be an isolated case, it must stem from lockdown and I would think this is going to affect thousands of mature students!

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

  • I may have misunderstood, but if it's been written off surely it doesn't matter how much interest has been added to the loan? Unless they've only written off the original balance and not the interest?
