you can only see a few months online, ask them for more,
when did it jump up from£79 to £120, did the interest ever stop, think you wrote it never did

look at credit card statements, cos the credit card company sends you statements, they have to. as it's active

can you still access your credit card acct online to view statements and payments , you should be able as it's active.

when my Barclaycard got defaulted and sold to pra, it no longer let me login on Barclaycard website  and had to view it on pra site

you wrote you had documentation that interest SHOULD be stopped, but did it state it HAS stopped , cos it isn't guaranteed interest Will stop, it's up to the lender, and only definitely stops when defaulted

I think that's an important part of your argument with debt company, you have to check exactly what the documentation stated

  • I have the statements from the card going back to February last year and it clearly states the interest they took, i am waiting for the CC company to send me the last 4 years of statements as we never got paper ones. In the last year alone, the balance of the card is 1/4 of the limit now and they have taken over £280 in interest.
The DMP company said they have documentation from the CC company that interest HAS been stopped, i've asked the DMP management to send me this documentation as well as everything else since the start of the DMP, because it was such a long time ago i don't really remember what i was told. The payments haven't jumped from 79 to 120, the credit card company is only getting 79 from the DMP company but the DMP company are saying they are paying £120 to them, which they are not. The DMP portal i log into doesnt have any information about previous payments, so i cant see what the payments were to the CC company before i settled the majority of our debts. I suppose now i just wait for all the information to come back from the DMP and CC companies.

Can someone explain to me what defaulted means? I thought if you missed a payment it defaulted. I have a current card which i have missed one payment on and already they have issued a notice of default. The CC i have been talking about here has had at least 8 missed payments on it before it was added to the DMP, yet its still active and i cannot find anything about defaulted payments.

default means you haven't followed the terms and conditions in your agreement, eg made the min payments .
you get 2 warning letters telling you that you are in arrears and in breach of being defaulted is the next step.
it tells you bring your account up to date.
then the next step is the actual default, it could be quick or many months down the line. if you don't pay the arrears and make min payments
the account is then stopped, interest stopped, late payment charges stopped.

then you can't use account and you make arrangements to repay debt, sometimes the credit card company sells your debt on or chooses to use a debt collection company to collect your repayments

From what you say it appears your debt management company have been paying more than the minimum required payment to this credit card, hence why its still alive and active, essentially they have been passing on your monthly payment, to a non defaulted account, where interest has been added as per normal, and taking a 25% cut from your money every month.

That in itself is a good enough basis to raise a complaint, they have been conning you, and blatantly so.

A default is a financial term, used when a credit agreement has been broken. If you’re unable to make payments or you don't pay the right amount, your creditor may send you a default notice. If the default is applied, it could affect your credit file.

A default can be added after between 3/6 missed contractual monthly payments, it essentially means the relationship between you has ended, and your account will go to debt collection, or may be sold.

For just missing one monthly payment, you will have received a notice of "default sums in arrears" which means you missed your monthly payment date.

Read what it says carefully, as this is separate issue altogether to a "default notice".

Thank you all. I have just emailed my debt management company asking for the information and telling them to close my account down. I am paying £217 per month. Back in November i actually paid the majority of debts off myself, after we had some money come in, if i hadn't we would still be on this plan for the next 18 months. Essentially they are taking around £50 every month for absolutely nothing, all they did was send a few emails to the debtors asking them for lower payments and interest freezes...i could of done that myself!! Also they never told me that there were charities out there that would do this all for free, so i feel like I've been miss sold this DMP. I feel like it shouldn't of been my job to discover the error on the credit card fees, this should of been picked up by them years ago, and because it wasn't we have been left in debt for a lot longer then we should of been, have been paying a debt that should of been paid at least 2 years ago and have been charged fees by them for their mistake. Is there any official way to claim back the fees from them? Or do i just request them?
How does tally with your other thread about £26k current debts?

Are you using the royal "we" and using my to refer to debts in your partner's name?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
