we cant actually remember if we received any default notice, this was 4 years ago and we lived in a different house, but according to his credit score, its active and there is no other information on it.0

looks like it's best to stop paying, anybody, via this dmp company, (check credit report to see what debts have defaulted) then set up your own dmp run by yourself, only paying those that have defaulted
and then the credit card once it stops showing as active , eg defaulted on credit file, then start paying it too.
then use a financial charity like stepchange if you want at that pointChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

In any case I'd ditch the fee paying company immediately and use Stepchange or just set up a repayment plan yourself. Why pay a penny more than you need to?1 -
Do a subject access request from the Debt Management Company so you have all the written evidence you need to challenge the credit card company, then dump the Debt Management Company. When you dump them tell them they have been negligent and you will be seeking a refund of fees and holding them liable for any loss you suffer.1

Thank you all. I have just emailed my debt management company asking for the information and telling them to close my account down. I am paying £217 per month. Back in November i actually paid the majority of debts off myself, after we had some money come in, if i hadn't we would still be on this plan for the next 18 months. Essentially they are taking around £50 every month for absolutely nothing, all they did was send a few emails to the debtors asking them for lower payments and interest freezes...i could of done that myself!! Also they never told me that there were charities out there that would do this all for free, so i feel like I've been miss sold this DMP. I feel like it shouldn't of been my job to discover the error on the credit card fees, this should of been picked up by them years ago, and because it wasn't we have been left in debt for a lot longer then we should of been, have been paying a debt that should of been paid at least 2 years ago and have been charged fees by them for their mistake. Is there any official way to claim back the fees from them? Or do i just request them?0

what would be your grounds to claim back their fees, cos they would state we can't promise interest will be stopped, which is true and they will say they are a business , not a charity, hence they charge fees in order for them to make a profit.
unless you can find a letter from them that clearly stated we have now stopped all interest on your credit card debts from such and such a date.
about 11 years ago I actually worked for one of those companies for a month, I left due to my morals, I told folk we cold called , that they should use charities instead, yes I got paid off for poor sales targets. I remember the line manager ,mr motivator would listen in to your calls from his desk at end of the big office room. I got "dragged" to his desk and was told, get my coat , leave the building, now, lol.
all I wanted to do was help people.but in a fairer way. once we found a potential " victim" , it got sent downstairs to the advisor who would take your debts and work out a plan, took about 2 hours work. then they just let the direct debit run for years and years. the advisor could make £1000 a week in commissions, based on how big your debt was.
the office lite up like Xmas when they found someone that owed £ thousands and thousands.
I have never ever put that month's employment there on any of my cv's
but I know these type of companies exist, the company I worked for shut down, it went through staff like water.it eventually ran out of new employeesChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

ive read the link and i'm honestly not sure. The plan was set up 8 years ago, so i cant remember at all if they said they would freeze all the interest or that i would be debt free with them (although this does sound familiar) The fees they charged most definitely increased the amount of time to pay off the debts. I worked out that at a minimum over the 8 years i paid £2800 in fees on a £7000 debt, thats over a third of my debt. I have closed the plan, cancelled the direct debit. We have £700 left to pay off, £560 of that is the credit card i am questioning, so i am hoping that once they have reversed the fees we wont have that to pay anymore. Funny thing is, according to the credit card company our monthly payment to them is £79, the minimum they expect is £23, and according to my debt managment record they are paying them £120?? which makes zero sense, nothing adds up.
I have asked them to send me every document they have on this DMP, hopefully i get that and can go through it. But as of now we are not on the DMP.0 -
is the £120 cos lots of your other debts are now paid off in your plan
this you have lots going to the credit card debt, maybe that's why it's active, cos it gets a good payment above min requiredChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

The other debts were only paid off in November and the payment has gone up, the cards been active for the past 4 years. The problem with my debt management plan is that i cannot see previous payments online. So ive got no choice but to wait for them.0
