It means that if you register, turn off anything electrical that you can manage to turn off from 5:30 to 6:30 pm today, then if you succeed in reducing your electricity usage enough you will win a cash prize in the form of money off your electricity bill.Reed0

Hello again @Brie ...Brie said:what does this mean?
This is a Demand Side Response event by invitation only to reduce electricity usage during the hours mentioned by a set amount to earn a reward. This is part of the Demand Flexibility Service run by the National Grid in cooperation with many suppliers who each use a different name for their events, #PowerSwitch in the case of E.ON Next.0 -
Just received our invitation from EDF to do the same this evening between 17:30 and 18:30.
I wonder if these are planned weeks in advance or at short notice based on predicted Grid demand?
I can imagine in the current freezing conditions demand this evening will be high.(And with currently only 4.4GW being generated from wind due to low wind speeds).0 -

It's just a test one this time, not a real live event.
The grid might have planned when they were going to do it, but perhaps didn't announce it to suppliers until this morning.
Last year they did the first 2023 test around this time. Rumour is they wait until the Christmas period is out of the ten (week) day comparison period.PPI success. Banding success. I've just signed up for this. Lets see if they pay more than EDF did
