Heated propagator or just a heat mat?
Options
Hello to all, I’m thinking of getting either a heated propagator or a heat mat in order to get some dahlia tubers and cuttings going ahead of time as well as some other seeds. It would have to be small enough to fit onto a window sill. I’m thinking that maybe a heat mat would be more versatile and easier to store when not needed but I would welcome forum members’ recommendations and experiences and what should I bear in mind when purchasing.

I have both and if you can afford it & have space I'd get the propagator, thermostat controlled if affordable these daysThe heat mats need a tray, cover etc anyway, which you need will to store, so may as well store a propagator in the same spaceThe propagator seems to provide more of a balanced heat, but this may just be my set-upI see you can get long propagators to fit window sills these days, something to considerEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Thanks for your comment - after reading and researching, I'm also thinking one of these long propagators is probably a way to go. They seem to be reasonably affordable, although not thermostat controlled, but as a starting point should do the job.0
