Husband tried to open 1 year fix with Investec via Raisin as recommended on MSE weekly email but Barclays said Raisin throws up a red flag and they would not cover his loss if this turned out to be a scam!!

Is this just because they don't support account verification?

What message is he actually getting?

You can always send £1 first, make sure it arrives, before sending the rest, as your deposit doesn't have to be made in one go.

Assuming you have opened a genuine Raisin platform account.

I had a similar issue with Raisin a couple of years ago. When I tried to transfer the money in, I got a security message from Lloyds telling me to call their fraud department and that they would freeze my account at the end of the day if I didn't do so. It was pretty scary as I needed my telephone banking passcode to call them and I didn't know it, not having used phone banking for years. Fortunately I managed to find where I'd saved it and it was all sorted out on the phone, but it wasn't a nice experience!

Raisin itself is legit but, according to the Lloyds fraud department, it's often used by scammers and that's why they were suspicious of it.
