I have seen talk on other forums of Amex taking a dim view on 'manufactured spending' ie sending large sums via PayPal just to secure the Amex points.
But really, isn't that the whole point of Amex? I imagine the vast majority of spending on Amex is by people who could just as easily use another means but they choose to use Amex to get the points (and then immediately pay it off using the debit card they could have used in the first place).

My wife is buying a car for £10000. I am providing the initial funds for her. I could just bacs it to her. Or I could send it via PayPal linked to my Amex card. Abd then pay off the Amex card.

When her own funds become available, she could just pay me back by bacs. Or she could pay me via PayPal linked to her Amex.

That's 2x £10000 transactions that could qualify us both fir 120000 Amex points each on the current Anex business platinum sign up offer.

    Is that manufactured spending?
