Have received an email from argos today and they say that there Tom Tom 720 is now an amazing £159.99, their web site is not showing this price - I have reserved one at the online price - do they have to honour the price in their email to me if they printed the wrong price.

No, they don't. In fact I'm fairly certain when you reserve online with Argos it states you are reserving the product and not the price.0 -
I also noticed this, I have been trying to contact Argos over this to see how to gain it for that price, which is obviously £50 cheaper than Halfords.0

PCworld pricematched the flyer I printed from ARGOS this morning... I also had the online address for it and they went to see it online then pricematched it and gave me 10% of the difference0

It's a mistake. They won't honour it, but it's still a good price.0

The Argos I tried today wouldnt honour the price and gave me the Head Office address to complain to (I probably wont bother as they will just say the same). However i had done a reserve and Buy for it and so by the end of the day when i didnt purchase it at the higher price it went back into their stock to show as available. I saw the thread here about PC world Price matching and went to try them at just before 6pm, they said they would only PM if Argos had the item in stock and they had checked today and they were out of stock. So I asked them to check again, and lo and behold they had stock available again (the one I reserved and didnt buy) so they would price match it for me .... even though the web price showed as 223.99,... I just said ahh thats the online price and you get the sale discount in the shop to 159.99 ... a little white lie never hurts and I am happy I got a real bargain as I had been eyeing up the 520 for £180 at amazon and looking for a better deal ... which this clearly was

Next cheapest place for the 720 is Amazon @ £180 delivered ! (so only £20 more than PCWorld......and without the risk of white lies or hassle of collecting it)

We have been told by head office not to honour this offer due to the fact that it is a misprint (I think that is the reason anyway, but all we were told is not to sell it at that price)[DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]
God put me on Earth to acomplish a certain number of things.
Right now I am so far behind I will probably never be allowed to die!0 -
Bought one today from our local argos - we had quite a debate about it and in the end they said we could have one at £159 - may be worth trying other argos stores to see if they will honour the email offer.0

Thats one hell of a misprint. Its not even like the old currys one where they showed a picture of the TOMTOM ONE XL instead of the TOMTOM ONE V2 that it was meant to be. It isnt as if they have misplaced a digit because if the 1 was meant ot be a 2 then that ould make it more expensive than it is anyway.
When a missprice like this happens and the retailer refuses to honour it does the item not have to be removed from sale for 2 weeks... This might be if it was only advertised in local press. I vaguely remember a thing like that when I was refused the Currys TOMTOM the last time but when I mentioned that to them they let me have the XL0 -
Just got it from Argos - Didcot, Oxfordshire for £159.99
Very quick. Just handed the email, no questions asked !All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.0
