Flight cancellations

Hello,
My mom and brother in law had a flight booked on 12/12/23 from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia - Jeddah Airport and to UK Birmingham Airport. Via Saudi Airlines.
Unfortunately the flight from Jeddah to UK was cancelled. They were told there is no flight departing from Jeddah if they depart from Pakistan.
They arrived at midnight and didn't return home until 5am.
They provided another airline ticket for Emirates but for the following weekend. They had no choice but depart the following weekend.
Is it possible to claim compensation? And what would be the best route.
Thanks

There's no eligibility to claim compensation under the UK/EU regulations for this, as a flight to the UK on a non-UK/EU airline is out of scope, so they'll need to consult their booking terms with Saudi Airlines to ascertain what their rights are with them.0
