Quit Job and Maternity Pay

HI I am Maria, I am very new here. This is first time I am writing in this forum.
Last 10 years I have been working in uk,  I quit my job in October  2023, they pay for Maternity leave. I used to work there 16 to 20 hours with minimum national  pay. Then i start another job from October 2023 and quit it January 2024. Here I used to do 16 hours national minimum wages. And this company does not pay for Maternity pay.

My first week of pregnancy start from September 2023.

Now my question is that : am I allowed to get maternity  pay? if yes how should I apply for it?
I would be grateful if can answer my questions.

Many thanks
Maria

    You can get SMP if:

    • you have been employed by the same employer for at least 26 weeks by the end of the 15th week before your expected week of The 15th week before the expected week of childbirth is approximately the 26th week of pregnancy which means that you need to have started the job before you got pregnant.
    • you are still employed in the same job in all or part of the 15th week before your expected week of childbirth. You are counted as being in work in that week even if you only work for one day or part of a day or you are off sick or on holiday. If your job ends in or after the 15th week before your baby is due you are still entitled to SMP as long as you meet the other conditions.
    • you are paid at least £123 (before tax) per week (April 2023 – April 2024) in earnings, on average in the eight weeks (if you are paid weekly) or two months (if you are paid monthly) up to the last pay day before the end of the 15th week before your baby is due.

It appears you do not meet the first requirement.

You might be able to  claim Maternity Allowance
