ECO4

I applied for replacement storage heaters under ECO4, the company WarmaUK got back to me saying they could not replace my storage heaters unless I agreed to solar panels !!

As I live in a flat (I am the leaseholder) the area above my flat, the roof space, is not mine to do as I please with therefore solar panels are a no no.

How I interpret this is that anyone living in a flat will not get their storage heaters replaced.

I consider the information I was given by WarmaUK to be a ploy as installing solar panels is a more lucrative business.

So far I have not succeeded in getting my heaters replaced, an enquiry to my local council is that they are not registered with the scheme.

The whole ECO4 seems to be a sham.

Whilst this scheme, like others before it, will attract some cowboy operators, it is up to the claimant to do their due diligence. You can cancel ECO4 contracts up to 24 hours before work is scheduled to commence.

What's wrong with your current storage heaters? Are they not working?

Presumably WarmaUK visited your flat to survey? And the survey outcome included solar panels?
Or is this all remote, by phone / letter / email?

  • My perception of the ECO4 scheme is that you get what you are given and what you are given may suit the installers more than it suits you.  But I don't think you are under any obligation to deal with the first company that you contact or that contacts you.
