Ulster Bank Easy Access Savings - I’m confused

Hi

Just wondered if anyone has opened the above account recently - I think it is featured on the main MSE site as being a one of the higher interest rates. I have gone through the process to the point of receiving my customer number and access code to register for Anytime banking, but to register you need an account number, which they haven’t told me - been through all the paperwork/emails etc but no account number. Also cannot find any phone numbers to speak to anyone. There is live chat, but nobody there today.

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

Are resident in NI or England Wales
If your are in the second choice you can only apply digitally your are given a sort code prior to application commencing 98-00-60
As I was already a customer the account was opened immediately
    Completion page gave account number.
Your will find operating the account easier if you have a current account with Ulster Bank to make withdrawals

Hi, thanks for the reply -  yes in England, and yes I have a sort code, customer number, activation code but no account number , which is essential. Didn’t realise I would need a current account to make withdrawals. My bad 😞

  • No, you don't need a current account to make deposits or withdrawals, nor is it any easier if you do have one. I have only a loyalty saver account and make deposits and withdrawals and payments instantly direct, just as though it was a current account. No need for a nominated account. Just the same as Cahoots Simple Saver and Sunny Day saver paying similar rates

I got my account number in the welcome letter I received after completing the HooYu process - I can't remember if I needed it for registering, but it took a week from opening to receiving that letter.
Cora says that the correct telephone is 03457 424365 - the number posted above seems to be for their Business Banking... i'd suggest using Cora tomorrow to either have a chat and/or confirm the telephone number.
btw - i'm in England and can manage the account without the need for a current account.

    Many thanks  for these replies.

I wonder if it’s possible that a letter has gone astray. I did the HooYu process then had a letter with my customer number, but this is not an 8 digit account number (tried to register for internet banking using this but it was rejected). I will have to try to contact them later in the week as I won’t get chance tomorrow. Was so hoping to organise this today.
  • if it helps your timeline, the letter with the account number is dated the day after I completed HooYu - I think it arrived a couple of days later - the same day I had an email from Ulster containing my customer number.

Ha, it seems I was already registered for Anytime banking, hence why I couldn’t use the “register for anytime banking” button but needed to use the “Log in” button instead. Managed to do this using customer number and have now found out my account number. So all good there, I have an account yay!. Next question (sorry). It seems they are sending me a card reader?!? What is this for please? I don’t have a card to read.

Did you try to register on app? I've registered online by using customer number and activation code (activation code was sent by text message).  This enabled me to login and see my account number. After that I downloaded the app on my phone without any complications.

Hi, yes I have sorted out the internet banking - it was a mix up of my own making. Are you being sent a card reader and do you know why? Or indeed, have a card to read?

No, this account doesn't have a card and card reader wouldn't be of any use.
