Ah I've got lots of those in my garden and they don't need planting!
Come to think of it, dandelions too. A bank of those are glorious as long as it's not your lawn.
    Attracts insects and birds too.

I'm thinking of Lily of the Valley & Solomon's Seal both these grow in the shade in my garden & both are native to UK. Once l.o.v are established they can be a bit invasive..... but wonderful scent

SS seems to grow one extra stem each year. When the builders were digging to put in concrete posts they cut the tubers /rhizomes/ tubers (whatever!) into chunks & new plants came up all over the place.

As with all these plants see if anyone appears to have a large clump of whatever and ask if they would save you /give you a chunk /cutting. Most gardeners are very generous.

Just remembered, celandine, very showy & bright, can be invasive, but the woods around here are a picture in spring
That reminds me... I've not seen buttercups about in the last few years. They were (seemingly) in every garden when I was a kid?

    We have them here :)
Nice idea. I'm going to have to go up and poke around the space. Not easy to park and not till it gets a bit warmer.

There's a roundabout near me which is covered in them every year. I'd like to get a picture, but it's far too dangerous, no pavements and motorway bound traffic.

  • I'll have to keep my eyes open this year to see if I can spot where they are locally and maybe 'transplant' a few into my garden :)

Bad news. Went to visit the spot and its been taken over by a wild child group.
A lorry load of sawdust on every inch thats not bramble.
Barbed wire and massive padlock on the gate because it had been vandalised.....not something that happens round here and definitely not in the countryside.
They vandalised allotments in a village some miles away too so agang, a car setting out to make people unhappy. No other reason.

I will try some seeds that i can throw over but little beasties may eat them.

Blimey 2P, what bad news. I suppose, on the brighter side, at least it happened before you spent time & maybe money on the project.

Seeds chucked over sounds good idea, and if you stick to dandelions or buttercups come summer it will be a picture I bet

  • If all they did was dump sawdust then you might be surprised what comes up in Spring :)
