Removing Password protected Symantec AntiVirus

I have got a 2nd hand laptop for my daughter for xmas.
Seems quite slow.
I want to remove Norton Antivirus,
when i try from control panel it says i need password to remove.
I have no way of contacting original owners.
Is it possible to remove it without password.
