Firstly, this is a bit of a warning - I just made a purchase in Edge, via TopCashback as I have done many times before. I have a Microsoft Rewards account to build points from Bing searches, but it seems they've rolled out a new related Cashback feature - I have no idea how it was activated, but it seems to steal the clickthroughs from TCB and Quidco
So, heads up - may need to use an alternate browser if you're using Edge

Secondly - does anyone know how to turn this off?! Everywhere I look it takes you to a page to disable Microsoft Rewards entirely- I don't want to do that, only the cashback component
Really frustrating!

The only really safe option to be sure of cashback tracking correctly is to use an entirely separate browser cleared of all cookies at the start of each session.  I use Vivaldi (based on Chrome) or Opera, but there are plenty choose from.

Agreed, although I've always successfully tracked in Edge until now :(
  • I'm in the same situation; MS hijacked the cashback and offered less than half of what I was expecting through either Top Cash Back or Quidco. What irritates me more is the fact previous transactions for smaller amounts track OK. An example being Samsung, £250, tracked back to Quidco with a bonus before Christmas. Another, through TCB, didn't. The latter was over £300 but in the end, the order was cancelled. Tried 2 pre-orders on Samsung and whilst I ignored all the MS pop-ups, they hijacked the transaction. I cancelled, tried again with all the MS shopping add-ons disabled and within a minute of Samsung confirming my order, MS emailed me to say cash back was 'covered'. Raised with MS and waiting for a full response. Quidco have all my visits recorded, but will say the referral was from elsewhere. My experience it is for transactions over £300, otherwise all goes back to my chosen cash back providers. Are MS simply 'taking the cream', amongst other things!

I mentioned this on a thread several weeks back, I have been hearing more and more about it.

It isn't just cookies you need to worry about. If you have installed one or more browser extensions that try to find you discount codes, vouchers etc. then in some cases the browser extension might 'steal' the referral link and replace it with its own.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!
  • How much to you earn from Edge link to a Microsoft Rewards account? as I normally uninstall Edge
