Take your own and submit it online?

Get a friend/family member to take the photo for you and then it's free or an equally minor favour back. Arguably you could selfie it but need to ensure that the mirror image mode is turned off.
  • Take one yourself. If you need.an actual photo there are websites too that will create a file of 6 passport photos on a 6x4 print that youncan just put on a memory stick and print one yourself or go to Boots etc and do it

When applying online for your passport, you can take your own photo (taking care to observe the rules about coloured backgrounds etc) and the website will tell you whether it's acceptable.  If not, you can try again. It's certainly the most cost effective option.
  • Thanks all

    Yes take you own.
When you upload the photo on the website it tells you straight away if is good or poor
Just keep taking & uploading until you get a good one

But you don't need perfection. The system can say it isn't good enough when you can clearly see it is, then override and continue and it will nearly always be fine.

Another vote for take your own. We’ve done it twice and it’s been fine. An iPhone.
