Cooker hood replacement

Hi
My kitchen/diner is a bit dated but rather than do a quick, expensive refit, I'm renewing items/decorating as and when.
The cooker hood is an old Phillips, recirculation type that turns on when the door is opened. The bulbs don't seem to last long.
Just wondering if the whole area/cupboards would need to be reconfigured for anything new.
It has a switch in the adjacent cupboard to the right.
I just want a basic, canopy type that recirculates as there's no vent for an extractor.
Any help appreciated.

Don't suppose that wall is an external one ?
If it is, I'd drill a big hole through and vent to the outside.
Maybe post a floor plan, and we can advise and/or comment.

I think it used to be but there's a sort of conservatory there now.
    Still external I guess.
Any ducting would have to go up, to the left
and out near the window top right corner.
I don't mind a recirculating type as there's not much in the way of vapours.
The new oven, soon to be bought might kick a bit of condensation out the back.
Can't seem to find a floor plan in the property report.

    Yes. Didn't realise a lot are a standard 60cm.
I can hopefully fit one under the cabinet top, lower down and then fill any gap above with a piece of the cupboard door.

That's a 'integrated' type, so any such hood will fit - as long as you like the front panel look.
If you remove it all, then any '600mm' hood will fit, and that's a standard size. You may need to think of what to do with the cornice, tho', but you could keep it, add a flat panel along the top, and cut a hole it it for the 'chimney' of the hood, depending on style.
For blowing lights, replace with LED, most likely SES fitting.
As said by others, go external ventilating if poss, but perhaps no real benefit in your case since little cooking smell or steam produced?
They are really to cope with hob cooking, and ovens aren't usually an issue.
Bottom line, if the one you have works ok, and you are happy with it's style, and chuck some LEDs in there, you can keep it.

Yes. I've just fitted an LED type bulb and that works fine (Daill 5w from B&Q).
There's also a large gap in the wood above the hood for ventilation.
The plastic bulb covers need replacing and have seen those available online but thought they were a bit pricey.
It's had a new filter and a clean though so maybe keep it as you say.

Just needs a good clean, right down to the small panel screws. A lot of grease as the property is ex rental and has had no maintenance.

    Nice job.
Where does it vent out to - out its top? If so, I'm impressed at the lack of stain on the ceiling!
Recirculating hoods like these rely on good filters that are kept clean or replaced regularly, and charcoal types if doing smelly food! No idea how effective the latter is, but the former needs keeping an eye on as it's doing the donkey's worth.

It vents out the top and I've painted the ceiling. Even so, there wasn't a great deal of stain before.
Yes, the filter needs replacing again unless it's washable. Been over a year since I fitted a new one.
I hope to get this and also the light bulb covers. Seen some copies at a cheaper price.

    Edit:
Just realised that there's two replaceable filters. A large foam type sheet with a second black one behind that clips behind the metal cover. This takes the brunt of the vapours.
Then a carbon one shown here that fits onto the fan. Haven't replaced this yet but I see they're available.

We have virtually the same extractor ,the primary filters fitted in the cover are replaceable and can be bought of the likes of Amazon ,you just cut them to fit ,we also changed the bulbs to low wattage ones.
