RM incorrectly delivered to address 50 miles from buyers address

Hi foiks

Never had this happen before but I sent a Tracked 24 item (cost to me was £85). Item delivered a few days ago to an address 50 miles away from where it was supposed to end up. I've double checked RM's tracking which shows GPS co-ordinates which I've since looed up and appears it was delivered to an argos store (guessing to put in one of their pickup points). PoP also tallies with buyer's address (used eBay to buy the label).

The buyer has since got in touch quite rightly saying he's seeing it as 'delivered' yet hasn't received it. He's also started an INR which is absolutely fair enough.

What is the best course of action from here? I've no issue refunding the buyer but from my side it looks as if RM have made an error. I'm a little concerned I've seen on here and eBay forums of RM rejecting claims since since, as far as they're concerned, said item was 'delivered' despite turning up elsewhere. TIA.

Any possibility of contacting Argos and asking them nicely to forward the item to a store nearer the customer?  Just to make life a bit easier for all.....    Alternatively asking Argos to return the item to RM as being incorrectly delivered to them?  Of course that might mean it just disappears into some great void.

When you queried this with RM, what did they say?  What was the explanation for delivering to an Argos store rather than the address on the parcel? Perhaps the postcode you have for the buyer actually takes you to the Argos store?

I've yet to contact RM which I'll hope to do later when I'm home - thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone has had this dilemma.

Buyer postcode and delivered postal code area are different, and two different towns. I 'think' it's an argos when checking the coordinates but there are other shops when google mapping. I checked PoP which marries up with buyers eBay address and it's a good 50 miles apart.

I had items delivered to wrong address (we have same road name nearby us with similar Postcode)
As recipient I had no access to investigate the evidence of where it was delivery beyond public tracking ("Delivered")
Ebay seller said its been delivered
Ebay Customer Service said it's marked delivered
So as far as Ebay concerned, delivery agent can throw it in the river provided they mark it 'delivered'
Buyer has no recourse beyond court action. So BEWARE!

I'd give the argos a ring and ask if it's there.
Hopefully you'll get hold of someone sensible/helpful.
Obviously it won't have the argos store address on it so just ask them to give it to the postman next time he/she comes in and they should put it back into the system for redelivery.
