My previous experience with Nationwide was that £10k of credit card debt knocked £40k off the amount I could borrow on a mortgage.

I was told not to apply until the debt was removed from my credit report, or I would get an automatic decline if the amount of debt I declared didn't match what a hard search showed.

MBNA and Barclaycard were traditionally generous with card limits, but things change. MBNA have been bought over and Barclaycard have cracked down and reduced a lot of existing limits. So that may no longer apply.

    Thanks.

I think given the fact, it would mean my partner could be using a lot of her credit utilization makes it not worth doing.

I've paid off the PCP, so with her making monthly payments to myself and me working overtime, it's probably the most sensible option.

I'm glad that you figured it out. Navigating loan options can be tricky. MBNA, Virgin, and Tesco are well-known providers, but each has different credit limit criteria. I had a good experience with MBNA, however, it took me time to learn about credit rescore (I should say, here informative research customer service helped me a lot).
