What to do about this?!

Parked up for 5 mins to drop my niece at a party.
Didn’t enter the building so didn’t know I needed to enter my reg plate to qualify as a “patron.
Received “PCN” from parkingEye, the 5 mins was literally reflected in the “PCN”
Initially contacted the landowner to try and get it cancelled.
Received this from the landowner:
I know it’s only £20, and I should probably pay up but it’s the principal of it! This is ridiculous right?
Please help

You are correct we don’t control this, what I have done though is informed Parking eye on a portal that you are a customer of ours. We would now advise that you follow the appeals process on the back of the fine letter and the evidence we have supplied will support you case.
Before I could follow their advice, I got the following letter from parkingeyeDear Sir / Madam,
Im furious! They have been contacted by the landowner to tell them I actually was a patron, but still trying to rinse me for £20?With reference to the parking charge incurred on 28 December 2023 at 14:52, at Tenpin Milton Keynes car park.
We have recently received a request to cancel this parking charge via our client.
Following a review of the case, we are unable to cancel the parking charge at this stage however, on a without prejudice basis, Parkingeye are willing to offer a further reduced parking charge amount of £20.00, which will contribute to covering some of the costs incurred.
I know it’s only £20, and I should probably pay up but it’s the principal of it! This is ridiculous right?
Please help

If you have time and inclination send the reply in Arkell v Pressdram and wait to see if they bother to commence proceedings.
This is clearly unsustainable from them. The lowball offer is intended to represent a quick win for those without time or inclination to fight.2 -
I completely agree. It is ridiculous. I would decline their generous offer of a contribution towards their incorrect parking charge. You have the landowner onside. You should just follow the correct appeals/complaints processes. In your situation I would gladly face them in court, whilst they try to justify their ridiculous position.2

Tell PE that since the appeal case of Jopson v Homeguard applies, thank them and tell them to send you a cheque for the £20 stated in their generous offeror, or in the alternative you will rely on the response given in Arkell v Pressdram.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Hello! I just wondered how you got on with this please as I’ve had the exact same thing just happen to me. I’ve received the fine and Tenpin have agreed to ‘support my case’ so I think I just need to appeal now. Hopefully they will cancel the ticket but I’m fully expecting to get the £20 ‘offer’ as a best case scenario at the moment. I wondered whether you’d managed to get them to dismiss that too please? Any help or advice much appreciated! Thank you ☺️monkey_alan_123 said:Man, you guys are awesome! Thanks so much for all the quick responses! Will let you know how I get on…0 -
