Looking at your other threads, I wonder if your 'earnings' are actually rental from letting a holiday home, in which case they can't be used as the basis for pension contributions.
I don't think this is right Marcon:"A qualifying holiday let will enable you to make pension contributions based on the level of profits as the net income is treated as relevant earnings for income tax purposes"

I'd been looking at this thread just before I posted: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6121535/short-term-rental-property-best-place-to-advertise#latest
...which didn't make me confident that OP has qualifying holiday lets - the key word being 'qualifying'. I've edited my earlier post to highlight this.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Nah. I'm self employed. I had one customer who insisted on me being an employee for a few weeks (I sal-sac'd most of the salary into a pension...).Marcon said:Judging by your post in 2022, you fall into that category: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6389118/self-employed-ni#latest - or at least did until 2022! If you are still an employee as well as self employed, maybe the £300 actually isn't an issue?
......
I have a buy-to-let, plus income from unwrapped investments, which is why I'm so keen to get it all into my SIPP ASAP. Will never happen since I'm mostly retired now. I've never earned very much, but my investing has gone rather well.1
