Morning all, it's a bit dull here. I had a lovely outing with my friend yesterday but the 1st place we went to was shut for 2 weeks when we got there. It's in an old Hall near us, the Hall was still open for visitors and the man there told us when it would be opening again so maybe next time she comes we'll try again! We ended up in our tried and trusted little Italian at the retail park but had to queue for a few minutes to get a table.Much nattering ensued, then we visited the marks where I bought something that was out of stock that morning with my O order. I was also able to give her her birthday present for the end of the month, win winI didn't really need much tea so shared a small quiche with DH, and DS just had a sandwich he'd bought earlier and didn't eat, nice and easy. I've just finished off the last of a big pot of yogurt I made from milk I had in that was going to be wasted ( extra I got in for xmas that wasn't needed), I'd already done the rice pud thing. the yogurt wasn't quite as thick as my usual greek stuff that I have for my breakfast but ok and meant I was able to delay my online shop a bit. I hadn't had one since before xmas & the fridge was def looking bare !TA, I've got a big ironing pile I should do todayDS2 rang earlier to say DGS had his foot stood on at footie training last night and it was very sore, he had visions of spending another day at A&e. He's gone to school though so we'll see. Might be a quiet weekend if he and DGD can't play in their matchesRight better get on, take care everyone x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning! I must be better, i cooked yesterday. Took some ribs out of the freezer, half went for bbq ones for OH, half went plain for me to make a cassoulet type thing and omg, it was gorgeous [ and more left of both for tonight] I love beans. Oh doesn't..[but both of us hate tinned baked beans with a passion] .Also because I've had a letter from the doc saying, you're diabetic, go for another blood test to check so that has spurred on the no carbs. Saw heart bloke yesterday too, all the same there and we had a good chat, he's starting semi retirment this year and good on him I say. I did say again, no one lies on their death bed saying 'I wish I'd worked more' , he's a lovely bloke too, and it sounds like he's going to be very busy. OH has been roped into doing a comedy class/course with a friend of his, he's not looking forward to it at all,.it's going to be every weekend for six weeks followed by a five minute set and I am giggling my head off inside because he is terrified...he thought it was just classes, he didn't realise there was a set at the end...should have said no
but hey ho, new experiences and all that, he might find his calling...
Izzy, that idd make me laugh, making time for more nervous breakdowns. 50 days? It'll be all over with by March, woop woop! ...SO, 16 sounds a lot but if you break it down, it's four groups of four which is much more manageable..also, Nels used to volunteer for phone calls with AgeUK, have you thought about that? Either doing or receiving. Did you used to have any hobbies you can dust off again? Gers, good to hear you're better too. Unbelievable how long this has lasted...it's the gift that keeps giving [ reasons to buy hankies] snoozer, you must be knackered after all the to-ing and fro-ing...Rosy, sounds like a lovely day was had..Hope the unwell are less so, and well done if you are ticking along, splurge on something nice in January, like a hot chcolate with marshamallows and cream [ home made of course! ]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
Morning all
Cold and frosty here but meant to get up to a tropical 6 deg later, I am just waiting for an AA man to come and look at my car the clutch has been dodgy for a while and I took it into the garage who charged me £190 to investigate and found nothing wrong 😡 it’s still bad now so I thought I would phone the AA and get them to do a report that I can take in.
Hope everyone is well, better dash as he has just pulled up xx10 -
Good morning all and thanks for the start @nmlc – good luck with your to do list x
Slighter warmer this morning – still wearing my bobble hat (to stop the frizz) and gloves (for bus button/handrail purposes). Not sure what I’ll do come the Summer – probably use my elbow!
I am working through my lunch today as leaving at 4pm to travel to DSis/BIL’s house. DH had a meal and brewery tour from them for his birthday, so the table is booked for 7pm. Will stay over at theirs and then see Mum tomorrow – she’s having her second cataract op this morning.
The menu tonight is pork belly (sorry @RedRuby1231) followed by treacle tart – luckily I don’t have to weigh at group for another few weeks!
We watched another disturbing documentary last night about a serial killer – really must find something happy and fun to watch this weekend as January is depressing enough. We are also planning to get out in the garden and start to tidy it up/sort the greenhouse. I would like to try growing squash this year in the beds, so need to plan where they will go.
Hope you feel okay to go to the hospice café group at some point @silver-oldie.
Are there any ‘warm hubs’ in your neighbourhood? We have one in the library and one in the church. A space to go and chat, grab a cuppa? @Redcross could this apply to you too? xx
So glad to hear you are feeling better @Gers x
Sorry to hear about Nate @snoozer, you all must be exhausted. Can’t be too careful with head injuries x
I attended my ND neighbour’s funeral last year @SuffolkSue. We have lived here 19 years and I would not have recognised her from the eulogy either! Apparently she was forever out to dinner with friends, girls weekends away, drinks parties. I never got invited once despite us being similar age and having children in the same school who played together most weekends. What does that say about me?!
Hope DGS’s foot isn’t too bad @RosyRed – guess it involved studs ?!!!
That sounds like my idea of hell @-taff – your poor OH!
Hope you get your car sorted @RedRuby1231 x
Have a good day everyone

We had some news regarding our holiday to SA and Zimbabwe for later this year unfortunately it has been cancelled due to not enough bookings so a refund for the deposit is on the way so we are now looking for a cheap and cheerful break later on in the year
Right better get on with the beds and washing today . Stay safe warm and dry whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini10 -
Morning everyone just finished my volunteering at the food waste loads of lovely veg and fruit today I don’t know how they will carry the bags home off to work soon last one of the week it’s dry but dark here January always seems never ending. Silver Oldie give the group a good think about as Taff said if you break it down into groups it might not seem so bad and the second week you won’t be the new girl I know it’s easier said than done but what’s the worst that can happen and if it’s not for you you don’t have to go again.Snoozer hope Nate is feeling better today you can’t be to careful . Right going to have a quick bowl of soup and an early night tonight for my park walk I mean run tomorrow. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Morning all, I had a rubbish night then fell asleep at 5am and woke at 10.30am. Too much thinking of "what if ?" scenarios.
It's warmer here today but I feel chilled so the heating is on full pelt, I don't know why I feel so cold today. I put all the shopping away yesterday but had to rearrange the freezer again and took out some boxing day curry to have for tea. That's the last of it and I'll make some boiled rice to go with it. Nothing much happening today except emptying the dw, again. I'm sure the people next door are coming in at night and putting their dishes in too as that's all I seem to be doing these days !
Bella sorry about your holiday being cancelled, hope your find a suitable alternative.
Take care all, stay safe and warm.

Good afternoon everyone.
Sorry to hear about hospital visits and people who are still poorly.
Just been to little organic butchers which is 2 buses away but well worth it. There is a greengrocers next door so I bought some big baking potatoes and then a few bits from the butchers it wasn't too cold when I went in but temp seems to have dropped when I was waiting for the bus home .
Veg curry tonight and I'm making apple crumbles with the reduced Bramleys I bought yesterday . Some for the freezer and one for my friend.
SO hope you get to the group and find it helpful. I remember during covid ( following husband passing away) I was able to speak to patients at work but found social occasions very hard . I couldn't even look up. I used to keep telling my self I could leave if I needed to. Once I retired I had to force myself to go out. Still do sometimes which is why I go on small shopping trips ,to the library etc. And for walks . I had planned to go back to charity shops ( looking for books mainly ) but will.wait till.its warmer I think because of waiting for buses . Thinking of you SO .
Once the crumbles are cooking I will clean living room and then settle down with a book and keep warm.
Have a good afternoon everyone9 -
Hope everyone has had a good day.
Walked to town with Mr F this morning - took stuff to the charity shop.
I wanted some bits from the haberdashery shop and then called at SA. I had some donations to sort out and enjoyed a cuppa and biscuits there.
Mr F went out again with a trolley of stuff for another charity shop.
I am still coughing - lots of people are know are too.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
