Morning All
Thanks for the start, hope you get everything done on your to do list.
Cold out again this morning but there doesn't seem to be a frost and the forecast is for a decent day. Will save the washing for tomorrow when it looks like I might get it out for a while.
Work was relentless yesterday but I did get a lot done - trips sorted for the summer and a fun day organised. Still not getting a lunch or tea break but have been leaving a bit earlier to make up for it.
SO - well done on the walks, I used to leave the radio on too SuffolkSue and found that it helped when I came in to an empty house.
Sorry you're still feeling rotten dp1.
Hugs to the poorlies.
Friday again, looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Take care. XX11 -
Good morning all
Thank you for the start nmlc
Feels quite cold this morning, I've put the heating on and come back to bed with a cuppa.
Had a call from the Hospice to ask how I'm doing. They have a café group, meeting once a month for a chat. Up to 16 in the group so I think it will be quite challenging for me, but I have explained my anxiety and she was very understanding. Only downside is there's a waiting list.
Hope the poorlies feel better soon
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.12 -
Morning all. It's another frosty start though I'm not complaining, it's much preferable to rainy weather.Yesterday my morning was busy and my afternoon lazy. Despite the heavy frost the ice on my car was softened by the time I went out so it didnt take me long to clear it. Only the windscreen and driver's side of it gets frosted and then the rising sun hits it. A little help there. I enjoyed my nail appointment, the young woman does it in a small cabin in her back garden so it's cosy. We had a long discussion about religion! Then I managed to find a parking space next to the PO to send off the three parcels. Job done.Today I'll have my usual Friday morning group phone call from Australia, at least I'll be able to hold a conversation without coughing. It's hard to imagine how awful I felt this time last week and now I'm about 90% better. I'm holding out going shopping as I have plenty to use and then there's more than enough in the freezer. We'll see how long I last. 😀
I hope that our poorlies and the sad are mending.12 -
Good morning everyone. Not posted for a couple of days, visiting elderly SIL who has the lurgy but does thankfully seems to be improving a little. Today I will venture out to do a little shopping and then cleaning calls.
SO I so agree about the feeling of loneliness coming into an empty house. I have tried the radio tip but somehow it seems to make the feeling worse.
I hope the poorlies will improve soon and those feeling sad or lonely find some comfort.
Take care xx13 -
Morning all. A frost free morning here but still cold.
I need some essentials from the shops today but we are out for a large group meal this evening so no real cooking for me today. DD and baby DGS might come over for lunch so I'll put some bacon on my list for bacon sandwiches.
Silver-oldie: the cafe group sounds good but 16 people is rather daunting. Maybe the waiting list will give you time to adjust to the idea of going though.
Nothing much else going on here so will wish you all a good Friday.14 -
Morning folks. Another depressing and miserable start to the day hereabouts. At the risk of sounding like a stuck record I hate winter so much and long for some warm and sunny days.
SO when I was first bereaved I was given no end of ideas for coping with the loneliness of returning to an empty house. Leaving the radio on didn't help me either as I expected to see my DH sat there listening to it.. One friend said he found talking to his late wife as if she was still there helped and a lady I know said she has her husband's ashes by the door and she would say bye, look after the house, when going out and tell him what she had been up to on return. Neither appealed to me sadly.
It's Friday Tidy day once again so the duster and vac are sat there waiting for me to exert myself. I don't do much ironing at all these days so the basket gets neglected until it's almost overflowing, so that had better be addressed at some point too. No rush!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning allSO I hope you feel encouraged to go to the Group when a place becomes available. Just think that everyone there has something in common with you. I'm sure the leader knows how anxious you are and makes it as easy as possible for you to settle in.Have just popped out for a bit of shopping as my hairdresser is coming soon. We'll have a good old natter as she's been coming to me for about 25-30 years. She used to cut my DH and boys hair too until DH had nothing left to cut and my DSs left home. She used to test them on their times tables while cutting their hair lolA bit of housework to do later and then I think I'll carry on reading a book that I started weeks ago and haven't got around to picking up since!Glad the poorlies are feeling better. Have a good day everyone x13

Morning everyone
Drizzly here this morning though it's meant to cheer up later. I'll go down to mam and dads this morning as it's banking day, then I'll get the bus straight down to work. little one is staying Saturday night this week so I'll have a quiet evening. I saw her on the playground yesterday afternoon - she ran to give me a bit hug. Her teacher said 'you'd think you hadn't seen granny for a long time' Little one replied 'I haven't seen her since Monday it's been ages!'
DD got a new job yesterday in a small care home, only 14 residents, she starts next week. She'll have 2 alternating weeks Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and then Friday, Saturday, Sunday the next week. On the weekdays I'll collect little one from school, no bother as I'm at nursery anyways and DD will be home half an hour later and will bring me back up home. And the weekends she's always here one full day anyways and it will be two half days instead. I'm hoping it works out and little one doesn't get poorly as soon as DD starts. She has an appointment at the RVI today for her blood sugar.
Well I'd better move myself.
Pleased to hear you're almost better Gers.

Hi everyone,
I was absent yesterday, we had an SOS call from C and C on Wednesday night. N had fallen and banged his head badly, daddy was off to Wimbledon for work meetings the following day so we went over to stay. They had rung 111 who advised them to take him to hospital to be checked so Crystal and I ended up in A and E till 2.30am. He was fine, as we thought, but it's very difficult to go against advice when it's a toddler. We had a quiet day yesterday because N was tired (as were we all), and came home in time for dinner. Hopefully, today will also be quiet and this evening we have promised Esben a party watching the Sonic 2 movie, with ice cream.
dp1, I'm sorry about your PIP appeal, the stress can't be doing your tiredness any favours.
Gers, I'm glad to hear you are feeling better.
Have a good day.11 -
No frost today .
The funeral yesterday went ok ,but again I wouldn’t have recognised the deceased from the eulogy !Think I might write a vague plan for my son to ignore !
Told him and he asked if I wanted a stand up comic or everyone in black with long veils .Hope that doesn’t offend anyone ,humour was our way of coping with the last few years .
A quiet day planned today ,wii get more sorting out of the things from the hall
Bolognaise our of the freezer for dinner ,I defrosted it on Monday and realised I didn’t need to buy any specific food for a while !
Stay safe and warm everyone .13
