Im 63. Yes there is the possibility that I wasnt in the pension - but Im sure I was. Ive sent for the SARs so hopefully I will retrieve something. I dont remember receiving a lump sum - and I was a lot younger with a mortgage so I would certainly  have remembered that. I'll get back to you if I hear anything with the SARS. Pension Ombudsman told me to write a complaint letter to Civil Service and RMS so I will do that aswell.
The snag is that if you were in your 30s with a mortgage, not joining the pension scheme would have looked much more attractive then that it looks in hindsight. Unless you've got something to prove you were in the scheme, it could be difficult. You say HMRC have confirmed it wasn't contracted out, so the SAR you've requested isn't going to be much help if that 'confirmation' was accurate.

Why did the PO suggest you complain to the Civil Service?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
  • 1,300 per annum..:(
  • Amazing work you've done here. :) I would have no idea where to start, its really tough out there. The Ombudsman arent really interested in helping find.

Another thought for what it's worth - have you tried Gretel.co.uk (free) just in case that throws up anything useful?

What does this sum refer to?

    The OP's CS pension.

    I started with the TEC around 1992 - transferred to LSC's I think 2003/and left in 2006.

The OP's quest relates to what happened to the  TEC pension she is pretty sure she had accrued up to 2003 when she was TUPEd

to LSC and joined the CS Pension Scheme.

This very modest CS pension seems to indicate no transfer in from the TEC.

  • Yes, that's why I'm sure it wasn't transferred.

Ive sent for the SAR's - I hope it will reveal something because this is pretty depressing.
  • Ive tried Gretel too.

Do you have absolutely no employment related paperwork at all from this period?

If not, the SAR seems about as far as you can go in your search.

  • No nothing. I'll wait for the SAR and let you know. Thanks for your amazing help!
